After the seven Colorado River Basin states failed to satisfy their deadline for a plan to share lowered water provides, Audubon’s Colorado River Program Director, Jennifer Pitt, launched the next assertion:

“I discover it regarding that after two years of negotiations—and three a long time of more and more dwindling water provides—the Colorado River Basin states haven’t provide you with a plan. Whereas I’m inspired that the states say they’ve made progress, at present’s river requires that we urgently put agreements and funding in place to guard the lives and communities that depend on a functioning Colorado River—at present and into the long run.

“Daring, adaptive, and collaborative options—with enter from Tribes, Mexico, states, conservation advocates, and different stakeholders—are required now for a dependable, resilient Colorado River. Every month and not using a clear operational framework will increase threat and makes it tougher to safeguard the river, communities, and habitats upon which birds rely.”

Some 40 million folks and 400 fowl species rely upon the Colorado River Basin. Audubon has long advocated for science-based options and collaborative policy-making on this river basin and can proceed to push for constructive outcomes for birds and their habitats.
