    Every summer season, younger explorers arrive at Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary prepared to find the wonders of the Platte River ecosystems. From scooping up bugs with sweep nets to day by day birding adventures to creating new pals and studying in regards to the pure world, Rowe’s summer season camps create alternatives for curiosity and connection to the outside. This month, we sat down with one in every of our campers to listen to firsthand what made their week at camp such a memorable expertise.

    Hello Scarlett. Final 12 months was your first 12 months of camp. That’s so thrilling!  What made you need to come to camp at Rowe Sanctuary?

    My mother went to camp at Rowe when she was younger. And I like nature and studying. It sounded enjoyable!

    That’s proper! Your mother did come to camp at Rowe- we even discovered photos along with her at camp in our archives. Have been you nervous or excited earlier than camp?

    I used to be slightly nervous. I hadn’t been to nature camp earlier than, however I had been to Rowe earlier than. I caught bumble bees there (throughout a Bumble Bee Atlas survey day).     I favored the wetland. We caught bugs and frogs in nets after which checked out them beneath a microscope. That was cool!

    What was your favourite factor to study?

    I favored studying about birds. On daily basis we went out to take a look at birds and discovered which of them we noticed. We even made our personal birds throughout camp!

    Are you excited for camp this 12 months?

    Sure! I really like crafts and making issues, so I’m excited for the artwork and nature camp.


    And we’re excited to have Scarlett again! There’s nonetheless time to register for camp! We’ve got 3 weeks of Platte River Safari Camps for youth at present in 2nd-5th grades throughout the 2025-2026 faculty 12 months. Registration is open by way of Could 26th.
