    Hammonasset Beach State Park “Salt Marsh Days” Return for 2026!

    Hammonasset Seaside State Park is a 936-acre ecological and leisure treasure situated alongside the coast in Madison. With greater than three million guests every year, it’s the most-visited park within the state. Birds that nest in and across the park throughout spring and summer season embrace the Saltmarsh Sparrow, Piping Plover, and Purple Martin.

    One important habitat function at Hammonasset is its salt marsh—a coastal wetland that’s commonly flooded and drained by salt water introduced in by the tides.
